Detailed Compatibility Information

The following devices support direct connectivity with PASCO's Bluetooth 4 products (no adapters or interfaces required)

• Windows 10 devices running Creators Edition 1703 or later with Bluetooth 4 support or greater.**
• iPad 3 or later
• iPad Mini (any model)
• iPhone 4S or later
• iPod Touch 5th generation or later
• Mac Mini and MacBook Air from approximately 2011 or later*
• MacBook Pro and iMac devices from approximately 2012 or later*
• Mac Pro from approximately 2013 or later*
• Android Devices using Android 6.0 or later
• PASCO's SPARK Element

Special Note on the current Mac OS and PASCO Capstone: The latest Mac operating system (High Sierra; 10.13) has an issue which prevents direct use of PASCO wireless sensors when running PASCO Capstone. We are working towards a resolution, but for now the solution will be to use the USB/Bluetooth Adapter (PS-3500). SPARKvue is not affected by this issue.

The following devices require the USB Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter (PS-3500) to connect up to three PASCO Bluetooth 4 products.

• Windows devices running Windows 7 or later but without Windows 10 Creators Edition 1703 or later.** See full explanation below
• Chromebooks
• Certain older Mac Products* See full explanation below

*Determining Mac Bluetooth 4 Compatibility

There are not hard and fast rules about which older Mac devices natively support Bluetooth 4 and therefore the best way to determine whether your Mac device supports Bluetooth 4 is to check your hardware directly using the following instructions.

Select Apple menu

Select "About this Mac"

Select "System Report"

On the left hand menu, expand "Hardware" and select "Bluetooth"

If LMP version is "0x6", the device is Bluetooth 4 capable

If LMP version is "0x4", your device will require our PS-3500 USB Bluetooth 4.0 adapter

The only exception we are aware of is for devices with LMP version "0x4" that have been upgraded to the El Capitan version of Mac OS X (10.11.x). If this is the case please contact support for further instructions.

**Wireless Sensors and Windows 10

To use Wireless Sensors directly with Windows devices (without the PS-3 500 USB Bluetooth Adapter) three conditions must be met:

1) A device running Windows 10 Creators Edition 1703 or later (Check or update your Windows version)

2) A device with Bluetooth version 4.0 or higher (Check your Bluetooth Version)

3) SPARKvue 3.0 or later or PASCO Capstone 1.10 or later must be installed

Support for older iOS and Android devices

Older iOS and Android devices that don't have support for Bluetooth 4 such as the iPad 2 or Android tablets and phones running 4.3 or lower cannot connect wireless sensors or use the new AirLink.  However, they can use the full line of PASPORT sensors by connecting them to the AirLink 2 interface.
