Deep Sea Current Model

Discover how the deep sea currents, such as the ocean conveyor belt (the thermohaline circulation), flow with this new model.

The model is an excellent tool for illustration of the deep sea currents that are caused by variation in temperature and salinity.

It is developed in cooperation with Danish High School teachers, and is a highly recommended tool for illustrating currents in water.

The model helps students to understand why warm sea waters can travel great distances and why cold water sink due to the increased salinity.

The tank is made of acrylic glass with one white side and three clear sides. The white side makes it easier to view the sea currents.

A special compartment for ice is located in one end and a heat element (not included) can be mounted in the other end. Food color is usually added to the ice (cold region) to make the currents visible.
